Family-run Hotel Fontana is a restored 18th-century Venetian house which enjoys a central location in Venice, just behind San Zaccaria square and a few blocks from Saint Mark?s square. Hotel Fontana (also known as Casa Fontana) is centrally located in a small square called San Provolo, just behind the square of San Zaccaria.
The hotel was also a convent for about 30 years, where a few German nuns lived until 1968 at which point it was taken over by the Stainer family. Fontana was the name of the former owner, who lived there in the 19th century.

Campo San Provolo is just a 5-minute walk from St. Mark's Square and even less from the main waterbus stop (San Zaccaria).
Immediately, as you leave the hotel, you have San Zaccaria's church with its fabulous paintings by Bellini and Tintoretto.
