The first historical mention of Hotel Stefanie dates back to the year 1703. A certain Josepha Winkler acquired the "Weisse Rose" (White Rose) at Taborstrasse 12 - the present-day Hotel Stefanie - in 1728. 70 years later, in 1798, the "Weisse Rose" was mentioned in Vienna's first hotel guide. Of all the hotels listed in that guide, only 3 have survived to the present day.

In the 1873 hotel guide, it was listed as having 110 rooms, making it one of the largest hotels in Vienna. Many places of interest, as well as business centres and exhibition halls in Vienna, can be reached on foot from the hotel. Situated close by are the Schwedenplatz underground station (lines U1, U4) and the Danube shipping pier. The next station of the U2 underground line is 300 metres away.

From the airport:

- Take the city train line S7 to "Wien Mitte/Landstrasse" (City Air Terminal)
- Alternatively take the CAT (City Airport Train) to the City Air Terminal
- Change onto underground line U4 (direction "Heiligenstadt") and go to Schwedenplatz
- Exit Schwedenplatz
- Keep left and head towards Schwedenbrücke (bridge)
- Cross the bridge and keep straight on into Taborstrasse
- Hotel Stefanie is the 6th building on your right side.

From the Western Train Station (Westbahnhof):

- Take the underground line U3 (direction "Simmering") to Stephansplatz
- Change onto line U1 (direction Kagran) and go to Schwedenplatz

- Keep left and head towards Schwedenbrücke (bridge)
- Cross the bridge and keep straight on into Taborstrasse
- Hotel Stefanie is the 6th building on your right side.
